How many years have you been in business?
We are closely approaching our 20th year.
In which regions of the country do you provide services?
We have and will work nationwide. In fact, we have done work in Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Utah, Wisconsin as well as our home-base of the Missouri-Illinois Bi-state region.
What types of services do you offer?
Over the past 19 years, Ahrens has successfully completed jobs that have involved demolition (interior and exterior), site grading, soil remediation, equipment mobilization, UST removal, plant dismantling, concrete tear-out and replacement, shoring and drilled piers. Although we have only done a few general contracting jobs, we feel that this field is a natural transition with all of the diverse experience and personnel that Ahrens Contracting possesses.
During the demolition of a building, does AHRENS recycle or salvage any items?
Yes. The most common items are brick, which can be used in new construction or landscaping projects, and scrap steel that is taken to a recycling facility. Occasionally we come across architectural items that with some extra time and care can be used as an intriguing focal point to a new home or perhaps an office building. Some items also have sentimental value to people. They may call and request a brick from the school they used to attend. We had some one request a cell door and a toilet from the Old City Jail that we demolished the summer of 2000. We did not inquire as to the sentimental value of these items. While some of these recycling efforts bring little economic value, the reduction in landfill space is certainly worthwhile.
